Currently, more than 68,000 women are serving in the Armed Forces of Ukraine, with 5,000 directly engaged in combat. These women have decided to stand against the aggressor who attacked the sovereign state of Ukraine, risking their lives. To support them, we have decided to create a fundraising campaign, Peace Guardians (Obrankyne mieru in Slovak) aimed at helping women fighting for the Ukrainian homeland and those forced to leave their country. In our focus are also women who had to leave their country and loved one to escape war. These women can be counted in millions, and they too have to embrace difficult challenges in building a new life far from home.
The central idea of this campaign is to highlight the significant contribution of women -mothers, daughters, and sisters in defending Ukraine from the aggressor and fighting for its freedom and future. This includes women on the front lines, in field hospitals, medical units, volunteers, workers in the defense industry, critical infrastructure, and mothers with children displaced by the war. One of the main initiators of this campaign is an existing, all-female military battalion Bucha involved in combat on the front defensive line. Its members have promised to actively assist in promoting this cause.
What do we do?
Our goal is to ensure that these brave women have everything they need to face the difficult challenges ahead. The funds raised are used to finance clothing, medical supplies, protective gear, and other necessary items that women on the front line request. We regularly inform our donors about how the funds are being used, so they can be sure that every contribution is truly making a difference.
Who is behind the project?
We are a group of people from Slovakia, the Czech Republic, and Ukraine who are not indifferent to the fate of those who have decided to stand up for their country and freedom. Our fundraising campaign Peace Guardians is specifically focused on supporting Ukrainian women – heroes who face daily challenges on the front lines and beyond. We believe that the courage and heroism of these women deserve not only admiration but also support and concrete help.
The project is led by the non-profit organization VIS EU, in collaboration with partners from both the private and non-profit sectors.
Our goals
Direct Help and Support: Help Ukrainian women on the front by providing essential equipment and supplies to ease their challenging fight. Offer material or financial support to women who have been forced to leave their homes.
Raising Awareness: Many people are unaware that women in Ukraine are fighting on the front lines. We aim to share their stories to help the public better understand the challenges they face.
Building Trust and Transparency: We are committed to maintaining full transparency. Every euro collected will be used effectively, and we will regularly share how and where the contributions are utilized.
